Royal Neighbors member Dawn Marie Brooks Gass wanted to help raise funds for a high school band in her community to compete in a competition in New York during May of 2019. Dawn applied for our Difference Maker Fund grant, and she and her team of volunteers held several fundraisers to help offset travel expenses for the Piper High School Bengal Band of Pride from Sunrise, Florida. Dawn and her volunteers raised $1,250 through ice cream sales, car washes and concession stand sales. They leveraged the $200 provided through the Royal Neighbors Difference Maker Fund program to purchase supplies for these fundraising activities.
As a winner of our quarterly contest, the team was able to donate an additional $500 to the Piper High School Bengal Band of Pride to help offset their travel expenses.
