About the Program

Our signature women’s empowerment program, Nation of Neighbors℠, is an award and empowerment grant that annually recognizes individuals who are improving the lives of women and/or girls in their community with a new or expanded business, organization, program, or nonprofit.

Nominated by Beneficial Members, agents, and Chapter Leaders, the recipients are leaders in their community and live the mission of Royal Neighbors.

Past recipients include:

  • Candace Benge who runs a family vegetable farm which provides cancer fighting foods to those in need in her Nebraska community
  • Kellie Markey from Dorothy’s House who helps victims of human trafficking reclaim their lives
  • Delfina Vazquez who formed Selma Community Outreach Ministries which provides safe housing for women and children living in domestic situations
  • See past and current recipients from 202120202019, 2018, 2017, and 2016

In 2021, $100,000 in grant money will be distributed through the Nation of Neighbors Program. More than $2 million has been awarded to grant recipients since the program began in 2007.

Nominations are accepted from one or more of the following qualifying members:

  1. Beneficial Member (member who owns insurance or an annuity with Royal Neighbors)
  2. A Chapter Leader of a Royal Neighbors Community Chapter
  3. Agents who have sold at least one certificate within the last six months

Program Guidelines

  • One nomination accepted from qualifying members each year
  • Qualifying members may self-nominate
  • Nominator and nominee must be 18 years or older
  • Nominations must include a detailed explanation of how funds will help empower women and/or girls
  • Information provided must be detailed, thorough, accurate, and complete
  • Royal Neighbors reserves the right to verify background and information provided
  • Recipients are responsible for any tax implications
  • Previous recipients are not eligible
  • Nominations will open March 1, 2022

Judging Process

Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of judges that may include members and non-members of Royal Neighbors. If one of the finalists, nominees may be asked to interview with the judges or program managers. Royal Neighbors reserves the right to make final decisions or resolve any tie-breakers.

Member programs are provided at the discretion of Royal Neighbors of America and are not available in all states. They are not part of any insurance or annuity contract and are not guaranteed. Insurance or annuity products should not be purchased for eligibility or maintenance of nonguaranteed membership programs. These products should only be purchased if they meet the financial needs of the applicant. Member programs are available at no extra cost.
