Hippotherapy Summer Camp

Jul 20, 2019
Hippotherapy

Courtney Young had been volunteering at Promise Ranch for several months when she decided she would like to implement a plan of her own. She loved the mission of Promise Ranch’s “Saddle to Speech” summer camp and noticed the difference the program was making in her community. The camp focused on hippotherapy, the utilization of horseback riding to improve communication skills among children with special needs. Courtney decided to call on the help of Royal Neighbor’s Difference Maker Fund to use planting to help children with communication disorders improve their vocabulary skills! Difference Maker Fund allowed Courtney to purchase a raised garden bed, so children could plant vegetables. Volunteers helped by donating soil and seedlings. Courtney’s project included 36 volunteers to help 28 attendees practice gardening and improve their vocabulary!
