Fundraising for fitness equipment, creating community sports, and team-building activities are fantastic ways to use your Difference Maker Fund (DMF)!Check out how sports, fitness, and fundraising collide to make a difference in our members’ neighborhoods!

Member: Beth Abing, Cassville, WI
Project Title: Promoting Pickleball
Difference Made: Beth shared, “Cassville residents involved with pickleball were so grateful for the organization of a pickleball league and the donation of new nets funded by the Difference Maker Fund. Interest in this new activity is rapidly growing and is bringing community members of all ages together. Because of the project, a community member also designed and built sets of paddle holders to better organize the matches. The new nets can move outdoors, and pickleball will be year-round!”

Member: Amy Johnson, Moline, IL
Project Title: CASI Fish Fry for Fitness Funds
Difference Made: Amy’s DMF project assisted with a fundraiser to help buy equipment for fitness programs at the Center for Active Seniors Inc. (CASI) of Davenport, Iowa. “CASI volunteers provided over 50 meals during our annual fish fry and raised over $800,” said Amy. “It was a great day for CASI members to come together to socialize, exercise, and eat a great lunch while raising funds for our Health and Wellness programs!”

Member: Patty Welsh, Moorehead, MN
Project Title: Make a Difference with Peewee Silver
Difference Made: Patty set out to create team-building activities and feed the Peewee Silver Hockey Team. Her project lifted the players’ spirits, strengthened the team, and inspired them to stay positive, work hard, and make it happen!

Member: Ashley Slota, Moline, IL
Project Title: Diggin' It for the Dogs Volleyball Tournament
Difference Made: Each year, Ashley helps host a two-day volleyball tournament to raise funds for Ruff Life Dog Rescue of Illowa. With the $2,800 raised from the last volleyball tournament, Ruff Life Dog Rescue has been able to continue its purpose to reduce the number of stray and shelter dogs by placing them in loving foster homes and providing quality veterinary care until they are permanently adopted.
