Member: Janna Davis, Stonewall, OK
Project Title: Cards for Caring

Janna purchased card making supplies that the volunteers in the Creative Art Class at Irving Community Center used to create 150 handmade cards. These cards were sent to senior adults in the community to help them feel connected and loved.

Member: Perry Van Dreel, Phelps, WI
Project Title: Christmas Head Start Program

Perry and his wife’s quilters group filled pillowcases with easy-to-read books; crayons; activity books; a homemade scarf, hat and mittens; small stuffed animal; dental floss; toothpaste; toothbrush; juice box; and Craisins. They gave the pillowcases to the Eagle River Head Start program.

Project Title: Breast Cancer Blankets for Women with Cancer at Edith Sanford Hospital

Patricia used her Difference Maker Funds to purchase pretty pink fleece fabric to create tie blankets for women undergoing breast cancer treatment at the Edith Sanford Cancer Center. She shared that these blankets rely on teamwork, taking two women approximately an hour to prepare and cut the fringe. Her group served coffee and goodies and turned the blanket making into a fun social event.

Project Title: Crafting for Beginners

Recognizing the mental health benefits of knitting and crocheting, Maria applied for Difference Maker Funds to purchase supplies for a community beginners craft event. People of all ages attended and discovered that knitting and crocheting can be relaxing, help with coordination, and generate a sense of satisfaction by creating something with your hands.

Project Title: Lap Quilts

Create lap quilts for special needs children at the Little Light House in Tulsa.

Member: Carley Davis, Davenport, IA
Project Title: Stocking Decorating Contest

Carley and her college group used her Difference Maker Funds to purchase supplies for a stocking decorating contest. Participants paid a $5 entry fee which was donated to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City.
